Partner is a remote desktop tool. This page explains what information the Partner service at partner.gurupras.me receives when you use the website, the Partner app and the Partner service on your machines, and what it does with it.
The short version:
- Your screen, keystrokes, clipboard, audio and files travel between your two machines, encrypted end-to-end. We cannot see them and we do not store them.
- We keep the minimum needed to make a machine reachable: an identifier for the machine, and, if you choose to create an account, your email address.
- There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and we do not sell or share your information.
This website
The website sets no cookies and loads no analytics, advertising or third-party scripts. Search runs entirely in your browser.
Like any web server, ours records each request in its logs: your IP address, the time, the page or file requested and your browser's user-agent string. We use these logs only to keep the service running and to investigate abuse.
Using Partner without an account
You can use Partner without signing up. To make a machine reachable, the Partner service on that machine registers it with us. We store:
- A machine ID. It is derived by hashing the operating system's own machine identifier. The underlying identifier never leaves the machine.
- The machine's public key, used to verify that it is the same machine each time it connects. The private key stays on the machine.
- A hardware fingerprint: the system (SMBIOS) UUID, the hardware (MAC) address of the primary network adapter, and the serial number of the system disk, where available. We use it for one purpose: detecting that a disk or virtual machine was cloned, so two machines never silently share one identity.
- The operating system family and the Partner version, so we can offer the right update.
- Whether unattended access is turned on for the machine.
Connection codes are short-lived and are not kept after they expire.
Accounts
An account is optional. If you create one, we store:
- Your email address and your password. The password is stored only as a salted hash; we cannot read it.
- Your device list: which machines you have added, the names you give them, and which of them you have allowed to be reached without a prompt.
- Access you have granted or requested: requests to add a machine, who approved them, and the access rules you set for your machines (permissions and, if you configure them, allowed network ranges).
We send email only for the account itself, such as verifying your address or resetting your password. We do not send marketing email.
Sessions
When you start a session, our servers help the two machines find each other. To do that, and to keep a record of who was given access to what, we log:
- the time of the connection attempt and whether it was admitted or refused,
- the machine ID being connected to,
- the account that connected, if it was signed in,
- the IP address the connection came from.
The session itself is peer-to-peer and encrypted end-to-end. Your screen, keyboard and mouse input, clipboard, audio and transferred files go directly between the two machines whenever the network allows. When a firewall prevents a direct connection, the traffic passes through our relay still encrypted end-to-end: the relay can see the IP addresses at each end and how much data passed, but not what it contains.
Our servers never record sessions. If you record a session yourself, the recording is saved on the machine and is not uploaded to us.
Updates
Partner checks with our servers for new versions. A check sends the machine ID, the operating system family and the installed version, and afterwards whether an update installed successfully. We keep the most recent report for each machine.
How we use this information
Only to run Partner: to make your machines reachable, to sign you in, to enforce the access rules you set, to deliver updates, and to keep the service secure and working. We do not use it for advertising or profiling.
Who we share it with
No one. We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
Partner runs on servers we operate, hosted with a cloud infrastructure provider. Account sign-in and email are run by us on those servers, not handed to an outside service. We would disclose information only if the law required us to.
How long we keep it
- Machine records are kept for as long as the machine stays registered.
- Account information is kept until you ask us to delete your account.
- Server logs are kept for as long as we need them to operate and secure the service.
Your choices
- Use Partner without an account. Nothing ties a machine to you unless you add it to one.
- Remove a machine from your account at any time from the Partner app.
- Uninstall Partner to stop a machine from contacting our servers.
- Ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to delete it, including your account and the records of your machines, by writing to the address below.
Children
Partner is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date at the top.
